White Petals

Summer wind blows
and white petals
resting on my fingers
Flee into the waiting air.
Beneath these satin nomads
water in its restless flow
offers refuge and escape.
Afloat like velvet rafts
on a listless summer stream,
white petals make their passage.
Silently they drift away
and fade from loving view,
leaving only memories on my fingers
of you, and water,
and the summer softeness
of white petals.
