Naked Body of Dreams

poetry by David Deyo

Your hearts know in silence the secrets of the days and the nights. But your ears thirst for the sound of your heart's knowledge. You would know in words that which you have always known in thought. You would touch with your fingers the naked body of your dreams. And it is well you should.
Khalil Gibran from "The Prophet"

David has been writing poetry for over twenty-five years. When he's had the presence of mind to submit his work for publication, poems have appeared in Cotton Boll/Atlanta Review and Gertrude. His approach to writing is based in a conviction that poetry is more akin to music than to literature. The words have to sound right before they can be considered right. A poem on a page is like sheet music, containing the potential for the work to find expression but needing to be heard by a reader's voice before it achieves its true art.
